Espana

Barcelona has been intense and overall amazing.  I think I have walked more in the past seven days than all of the walking I have ever done in my entire life.  Being here brings mixed emotions.  It is hard because I don't speak the language, and the way Spaniards do certain things isn't always what I am used to.  I went to the supermarket the day I moved into my apartment and the lady at the register was saying something in Catalan which I couldn't understand.  Well, apparently, in Spain you need to weigh your produce before you check out and get a sticker with the weight and price.  I won't make that mistake again.

Today has been a lazy sunday.  I did a load of laundry and hung it on the line to dry....you should see my room I have socks hanging everywhere because I didnt want them to fall down to the first floor!  I did the dishes as well....pretty boring, I know.  Tomorrow, classes start...Like the first day of any semester, I am nervous.  I hope the professors are nice.

Now it's time to watch some of the 10 channels I have on TV.  I'll have to go over to Pedro's if I want to watch Sponge Bob or MTV dubbed over in Spanish.  But I do have Barca TV! All the FC Barcelona I could ever want!

packing...this time, for real.

This time saturday i'll be well on my way with the one and only Pedro Leal to Spain.  I have two bags, full of clothes, shoes, makeup, towels, odds and ends, bags, and q-tips.  My carry on is an actual luggage bag, which i will have my purse, backpack, meds, extra clothes, tooth brush, etc.  It's going to be interesting trying to fit all of the luggage into a taxi so that pedro and I can get to the hostel.  We'll make it work though.

I am so excited for Barcelona, but it's really scary to be going.  This will be my first time living in another country.  Luckily Pedro is coming along with Cassie.  It won't be as lonely if I go knowing a few people.  :)

So, for everyone who reads this, especially my family, i'll hopefully be updating this frequently with what I'm doing in Spain, pictures, etc.

I'm so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Time to start packing

5 days
holy crap!

i'm going to be in Spain for 4 whole months.  My plane takes off on the 22nd, and then after a long ride, i'll be in SPAIN!!!!

i'm a bundle of nerves, excitement, apprehension.  but i know it will all be okay.  It's just a new adventure, an opportunity to see something new, to learn something about myself, and to learn about a different culture.  It's going to be worth all of the stress and worry.

Winter Break

Today I went shopping and bought some jeans that actually fit my butt.  I also made an appointment to see my chiropractor for Monday.  I've been getting really bad pains in my temples and i have a spastic muscle on the right side of the back of my neck.

Tomorrow, I am going to unpack some of my stuff from school.  I am planning on donating a lot of things that I didn't need when I was at school.  That way, I won't have things that I am not using taking up space in my room.

My birthday is on Saturday.  Friday night, Andie and I are going to a bonfire. That'll be a lot of fun.  On Saturday, my mom and I will probably go out to dinner somewhere.  I need to call my brothers and see if they want to come down to go out with us.  I have no idea where I want to go.  I don't want to go too far away from home, but I want to go somewhere interesting to eat.  I'll figure it out by Saturday.

On the list of things to do...

So this week has been really weird.
Yesterday I missed my On Call time for Ambassadors simply because I forgot that I was On Call on Wednesdays.  So my boss called me into a side room and tried to reprimand me for it, and accused me of getting lunch with Pedro instead of actually being off campus because some bitch tried to throw me under the bus.  Too bad I was in the President of the University's office until 1:40.  GAH.  It pissed me off so much.

I need to finish writing my oral exam for Spanish....but i'm not really motivated to do that.  I also need to study for my Cultural Anthropology test on tuesday, oh, and my Spanish quiz on monday, oh, and my philosophy test on tuesday, and I need to work on my presentation of Epidemiology....

On a happier note, tomorrow night I am going to go and see The Glass Menagerie with Pedro, and then this weekend Arcadia is also playing Inception, such an awesome movie.

I'm ready for this semester to be over, as soon as I bought my plane ticket for Barcelona I lost all interest in being here for the rest of the semester.

we need a revolution

today in my international relations class we watched a movie about SDS and the Weather Underground.  We need to be that passionate about our war on terror.  Maybe not as violent....but at least not as passive as we are now.  Does anyone know how many troops we have over there or how many of them have died, and how many Iraqi and Afghani civilians have died?  I dont.....

We are so detached from what matters.  I want to care more.
